I’ve decided to start blogging again like I used to years ago when my old djlithium.com site was still my primary website for my djing activities.
Over the years I had to slow down a bit with the djlithium.com site for a number of reasons and starting in 2006 it almost seemed like it had been abandoned as I was working heavily in the film and TV industry here in Vancouver. In reality I was pushing as much as I could all the traffic and activity towards BlacktTigerRecordings.com. In 2007 things went seriously sideways after leaving Battlestar Galactica and taking a job at a game company in the UK. While the money was stupidly awesome at the time and I’m still going through records I bought while there (I was ordering 2 times a week, usually a dozen records at a time) there was something seriously missing (like a vibe of any kind in London that made sense, it was a shit hole scene for sure) and I decided to return to Vancouver in 2008, but immediately had to go back to work doing VFX for bad movies for a crappy TV network that shall remain nameless.
The music that came out though during that time, from 2007 to 2008 and later into 2009 was totally rocking but then it went off a cliff but it didn’t stop me from releasing mixes and some of my best stuff I think came out during the the span from 2007 to 2009. In 2010 though the effect of the economy was something even I couldn’t dodge and while I had slated 3 vinyl releases that year I couldn’t bankroll the whole thing while staying afloat at the same time. Record releases also became peppered with garbage from EU labels that seemed to have completely lost touch with reality as they struggle to make sense in this so called new “digital frontier” that has only done one thing in my opinion – increased the noise to signal ratio.
As for myself personally things started to turn around last year but in order for that to happen I again had to work over seas, this time for 8 months in Finland working on Iron Sky as the CG Supervisor for the film’s VFX sequences. You can see some of that work in the theatrical trailer for the movie which comes out April 4th of this year (2012). While I’m back in Vancouver and working on another film, I’m still sorting through so much crap that got thrown at me over the past 3 years. That and I have a major project coming up that is going to suck up a huge amount of my time.
I will explain more of this shortly in more blog posts found here on blacktigerrecordings.com but rest be assure that djlithium.com will return as a stand alone site this year as I’ve decided to go back into this game full force after seeing just how bad things have become with the dance and trance music scene from a djs perspective.
While I am very close to finally releasing my own tracks on 12″, I still have ways to go before they are finally ready for prime time and I want them to be as awesome as they can be. But that record is coming so stay on the look out for it. You will certainly here it first!
